Planting the Meyboom
The Men of 1979 will once again plant the Meyboom in front of the town hall. According to legend, the people of Leuven lost this privilege to the people of Brussels in 1213. However, in 1974, the Men of 1929 managed to smuggle the Meyboom out of Brussels. A new tradition was born: the Leuven Meyboom planting, with dancing and music.
